How to setup IP & network in CIC map updates by ENET cable

It’s a typical question and answer to setup IP address and network connection when update bmw e87 maps using enet cable.

Model: BMW E87

Purpose: to update 2010s maps

Devices i have: obd connector; enet cable bmw;

Puzzles:

have tried several different IPs, the closest i could get to accessing the cars computer was an error message, that password or username was incorrect.
In windows, under network and adapter settings it says that i don't have network connectivity. How to the LAN network, in some specific way? The problem seems the network settings, since even itoolradar doesn't show any IPs.
Ps. i have tried to access the fsc through browser, filezilla and the SWID software, additionally tried it under linux, but no luck.
 

Suggestions from an experienced user in a bmw forum:

As you know you can't acquire 1b file through DCAN cable, so forget about EDIBAS, the only option beside ICOM A2 is ENET cable i.e. ethernet adapter.

There are 3 different IP addresses assigned to clients by CIC (that I know):
169.254.199.98 (mask 255.255.255.0, gateway and ftp server address 169.254.199.99)
10.250.89.3 (mask 255.0.0.0, gateway and ftp server address 10.250.89.2)
160.48.199.98 (mask 255.255.255.128, gateway and ftp server address 160.48.199.99)

If none of those IP addresses work, then you need to set your PC to DHCP mode using TFTPD64. Then CIC will get IP address from your PC's DHCP.
You can check which address CIC got using Tool32 (when you are connected to it with DCAN, and ENET cable is on USB), load CICR.PRG and start the Job "status_get_ipconfig".
For example set your PC to a static IP address (e.g. 192.168.10.10/255.255.255.0) Launch TFTPD64 and bind it to your wired adapter. Under the options tab, set the start address to 192.168.10.20 with at least 2 for the pool size. Reboot your CIC by pressing the VOLUME button for about 30 seconds. The CIC will now be accessible at the address you specified, 192.168.10.20 in this case.

Hope this helps, if it doesn't then your CIC is most probably not wired to OBD and then your only chance is USB-Enet adapter with ASIX chipset

Why are you Need Mercedes ECU Tuning,

Here share with you my simple experience but no suspects of Promoting the product, purchase according to your own will.

I've been tuning rotary engines for like 8 years. A friend of mine is asking me to tune his supercharged Mercedes. He asks me what he needed to DIY tune a Mercedes? From my experience he might need 2 programs, one to read the file and another to edit it.

Anyway for tuning A Mercedes you should have good stable tools like Kess v2 master for OBD tuning, K-tag for BDM tuning with a nice BDM frame and a decent software running in windows xp sp2 or sp3. If you just want to do ECU Tuning, then just ktag is enough to do the job, but if you want to do more such as Power upgrade, then both KESS V2 and Ktag are needed.

This is KESS V2 supported car list, almost all Mercedes models are included.

Software in my opinion should be Winols-it is by far the best I have tried almost all but maybe it will be difficult for beginners. Try Ksuite for start it is so easy! The tools I meantioned above could be bought as chinese clones for money saving, which work on a new Mercedes ECU as the original ones. MINI VCI For Toyota TIS Techstream Customer Feedback

I would have gladly paid $42 for this MINI VCI J2534 cable to work on my vehicle.

I got the Toyota Techstream in today and went about changing 10-15 different settings.

There is SO MUCH stuff in there!!

I need to catalog all the options, I can see there are a ton more for vehicles with other options.

I have base model so many options just aren't there for me

Some of the more memorable things are:

Program and erase my own keyless remotes, FOB's, Smart Keys, Etc....

Change DRLs on or off

Change light sensor for when headlights come on or go off with AUTO mode

Roll up/down windows by turning key in the door lock for 2.5 seconds

Turn on or off seatbelt warning buzzer

Turn on/off for doors locking and unlocking warning buzzer

Change door locks on/off when shifting FROM park.

Change door locks on/off when speed over 15mph.

Change door locks on/off when shifting INTO park.

Change doors locks to unlock all doors 10 seconds after driver door opens.

Change delay for how long headlights stay on after ignition off.

Program your TPMS sensors to your vehicle if you get a new/replace one.

Shows temp inside tires, and actual pressure inside each tire including spare.

Every switch in the car is displayed with its current status.

Press the Cruise control Accel stick up and it shows that switch is now on.

Pull the stick and it shows the cancel button is now on.

Push window down button and it shows window down button on.

The list goes on and on...

This is just what I can remember...

How to Install MINI VCI J2534 Cable for TOYOTA TIS Techstream

Several months ago I’ve got myself the MINI VCI cable J2534 to play with. As it turned out, with little manual it is easy to operate, follow the popular belief, to get it working under Windows XP 64-bit. So, I decided to share the instructions, hope to help someone who has a headache of dealing with virtual machines with Windows XP.

Equipment:

1. MINI VCI J2534 cable for TOYOTA TIS Techstream

(I bought this from wobd2.com for $42 free shipping)

2. A laptop. Mine is actually Windows XP 64-bit, but for Windows 7 the configuration procedure should be identical.

Steps:

The Techstream software, MVCI drivers and TIS Key all can be found on the Internet as well.

First of all, insert the CD to your driver

1. Install Techstream NDSI setup driver

Open “My computer”

Open “Mini VCI GTS 10.00.028” CD software

Open and run “GTS-10.00.028-NDSI” setup driver

Select Techstream software language: English, click “Next”

Install software Wizard, click “Next”

Accept license agreement

Confirm customer information

Click “Finish” when wizard is complete installed

2. Activate 10.00.028 Toyota TIS Techstream

Go to C:\Program Files\Toyota Diagnostics\Techstream\Env\IT3System.ini

Change TISFunction=1 to TISFunction=0

Click Ok to save setting

3. Install MVCI driver 2.0.1

Open “Mini VCI Driver” folder on the disk

Install “Mini-VCI Driver for TOYOTA-CABLE 2.0.1”

Click “Next” and then “Install”

Click “Finish” when driver is installed

4. Check COM port setting

Open “My computer”>> “Device Manager” >> “USB Serial PORT(COM4)”

Make sure COM port is set to COM4

5. Run Mini VCI firmware update tool

Open “Mini VCI firmware update tool” on the desktop

Click “Device Info” to check detail device information, SN, firmware version etc

6. Configure 00.028 Techstream

Open “Tehcstream” software on the desktop

Click “NO” when system pops out Java message

Select “Setup” Tab >> “Techstream Configuration”

Select Area

Select language: English

7. Try to test my car

Connect MVCI cable to your car’s OBDII interface, turn ignition on, then click “Connect to Vehicle” on the left function list. Wait. Then wait again (by the way, you'll be doing that a lot with this cable ). If everything works, you will be prompted to confirm car year/model after which you'll get to the diagnostic interface.

So far, I tested the cable with 2013 4Runner, 2004 Sienna and 1997 Camry LE/4cyl, and it seems to work fine with all of them. Absence of (L) line connection means no support for ECU re-flashing (which is not something I'm comfortable doing myself anyway). Option customization/clearing DTC is possible (already verified).

Overall, not bad for a $42 gadget, in my opinion.
